This initiative was designed to equip young people with leadership skills, create meaningful connections, and provide a safe space for social, emotional, and developmental growth. The program was expertly facilitated by the wonderful Salim Mohamed who guided the students through each step of their journey.
Each Friday, the participants demonstrated incredible commitment and enthusiasm. The consistency of the group was impressive, and it was amazing to watch their excitement grow week by week. Not only did the students develop valuable leadership skills, but they also built strong, lasting friendships. The sense of confidence and camaraderie within the group was truly inspiring, and the community they created will be something they carry with them for years to come.
The program featured a wide range of activities, each designed to build a specific skill. From podcast creation and escape room challenges to trivia, goal setting for both school and faith, and even developing solutions for issues facing the Muslim youth community, every week offered something new and exciting. The guest speaker panel was a highlight, and of course, the weekly pizza gatherings were a great way to wrap up each session!
Though this year’s Future Leaders program has come to a close, we are already looking forward to 2025! The new program will kick off on Friday, January 31, and run for five weeks, hosted at the Islamic Museum of Australia from 5 pm to 7 pm.
