Education At IMA

educational packages for schools

About the IMA Education Program

The Islamic Museum of Australia (IMA) was developed in part to support core curriculum teaching. All of our education programs are aligned to curriculum (Australian and Victorian Curriculum, NSW Syllabus and senior certificates nationwide).

We offer a variety of different programs at the museum, as well as incursions and workshops available for delivery nationwide.

For teachers we are able to offer professional learning in subject specific areas or holistically exploring how to encompass more intercultural and religiously diverse perspectives in classrooms and school communities.

IMA EDUCATION PORTAL

Our education portal has a host of curriculum aligned resources and content that you can access. Included is also access to video footage from our galleries newsletters and other materials to support teachers in their classrooms.

EDUCATIONAL PACKAGES FOR SCHOOLS

Get the most out of the IMA experience for your students by selecting from our range of educational packages for schools.

PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

Teachers with a valid teacher registration ID can visit and tour the museum for free. All teachers accompanying students on a tour of IMA receive a digital professional learning certificate. IMA also offers professional learning sessions for school educators referenced against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. These sessions will be advertised on the homepage and in the Events section as they become available.

VENUE HIRE

Conduct your school’s next professional learning session at IMA. We have the following facilities for hire:

  • Multi-Function Centre, with full AV facilities (fits 80 people)
  • Theatrette, with full AV facilities (fits 50 people)
  • Two workshop rooms (fits 25 people each).

Contact us for pricing and bookings. Any requests for IMA staff to present as part of a school’s professional learning session at the museum will incur additional costs.

WORK EXPERIENCE

IMA offers a varied work experience placement program for Year 10 students. Activities include joining in on guided tours and educational workshops, data entry and administrative tasks, working in the gift shop, and shadowing curatorial and marketing staff. For more information or to submit an application via our website: https://www.islamicmuseum.org.au/work-experience

Applicants are encouraged to submit their request 6 weeks prior to their proposed start date.

All applications are subject to IMA staff availability.
