WINDS OF CHANGE EXPERIENCE

Winds of Change - Augmented Reality Experience

Uncover Australia’s Muslim History through our immersive and engaging Augmented Reality program ‘Winds of Change’.

Travel back in time to Arnhem Land in the 1700s and explore the life of the Afghan Cameleers; meet the crew diving for pearls near Thursday Island; explore Australia’s first Mosque in Marree, South Australia, see the Makassan fisherman on their perahu (fishing boat), who traded with First Nations Peoples before European settlement, and visit Albert Park in 1884 for Melbourne's first ever Eid Festival.

Each stop in the experience offers deeper insight into discoveries that users can uncover such as: the items that were traded between Makassan fishermen and First Nations Peoples, the equipment needed to deep dive for pearls off Thursday Island, and more!

Winds of Change covers a range of curriculum areas in History and Geography from Years 3-10 and can be used in conjunction with a museum visit or when covering these topics in the classroom. Our Education Portal also has a variety of resources linked to the Winds of Change program that can further support student learning.

For more information on this program, how to gain access or if you require further support, contact the National Education Manager, Jacquie Bourtzis at education@islamicmuseum.org.au.

Please note: Winds of Change is a complimentary experience when engaging with the IMA’s Educational Programs and is used as an extension to our Australian Muslim History gallery. If used in isolation, after an initial complimentary experience for a reasonable group size, a small cost will apply.
