Explore the connected histories of the first Muslims to Australia and the relationships they had with the many First Nations communities on their journeys around the country. For Years 3-6 studying Australian History.Students will explore:The connection between Muslims and First Nations Communities before European settlement,The introduction of camels to the Australian landscape and the Afghan Cameleers who supported their journey,The reasons for migration and its impact on people and the environment,The experiences and contributions of migrant communities on the country,The changing experiences and perspectives of migrants, women and children since Federation,The contributions of individuals and communities who migrated,The impacts of their contributions on 20th century Australia.Our Augmented Reality program ‘Winds of Change’ was created to accompany this experience and the Australian Muslim History gallery. The program is offered complimentary when engaging with the museum. A device is needed to access the program, so it can be used as a pre, during or post-visit activity with your class.An optional Art workshop (add 45 minutes) is available at an additional cost of $8+GST per student.

In a standard two-hour program, students will experience a presentation, games, dress ups and a guided tour of the museum.In this curriculum aligned program, students will explore:Connection between Muslims and First Nations Communities before European settlement,Afghan Cameleer history,Beliefs and practices of Muslims,Scientific discoveries and significant Muslim inventors (think first man to fly, Algebra, medicine, and more!),Islamic celebrations and similarities and differences between religious and cultural ways of celebrating,Shared values (school values and Islamic values like: respect, empathy, perseverance).An optional Art workshop (add 45 minutes) is available at an additional cost of $8+GST per student.

This specialised tour explores the scientific, cultural, and intellectual contributions from the ‘Islamic Golden Age’, and its influence on Medieval Europe. This package is relevant to studies of Islam-West relations during the Medieval period, in Year 8 History or in the senior secondary years. It is intended to aid content learning as well as foster Intercultural Capability / Understanding.An optional Art workshop (add 45 minutes) is available at an additional cost of $8+GST per student.

Our Islamic Arts package is dynamic, reflecting upon the ancient techniques of Persian ceramics, to ancient calligraphy, contemporary installations, paintings and multimedia works housed in our Islamic Art gallery and visiting exhibition space. It is relevant to Visual Arts, Media Arts, Visual Communication Design, VCE Art and Intercultural Capability/Understanding.
