IMA offers a variety of curriculum-aligned educational packages for schools

IMA offers a variety of curriculum-aligned educational packages for schools. All on-site packages combine a presentation, Q&A, a guided tour of the museum, and interactive activities. We suggest you allocate at least two hours for a visit to the museum. Incursion packages are also available.

This generic, introductory package is suitable for all primary students. It is relevant to a range of subject areas as well as Intercultural Capability/Understanding and Personal and Social Capability. Relevant subject areas include, Humanities and Social Sciences, The Arts, and English. This package is relevant also to schools teaching the IB Primary Years Programme. This highly interactive package comprises fun activities, games and dress-ups for younger students.

This package costs $8 per student. An optional Arts workshop (add 45 minutes) is available at an additional cost of $8+GST per student.

This generic, introductory package is suitable for all secondary students. It is relevant to a range of subject areas as well as Intercultural Capability/Understanding and Personal and Social Capability. Relevant subject areas include:

  • Humanities and Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship)
  • English
  • The Arts
  • VCE (History, Australian and Global Politics, Sociology, Religion and Society, Texts and Traditions)
  • IB Middle Years Programme (Individuals and Societies subject group, Visual Art, Media, Design, Interdisciplinary Learning, MYP Projects)
  • IB Diploma Programme (Individuals and Societies subject group, Arts subject group, Theory of Knowledge)
  • World religions (or similar subjects offered by faith-based schools)

This package costs $10 per student. An optional Arts workshop (add 45 minutes) is available at an additional cost of $10+GST per student.

This package is designed to support students from Years 3-10 studying Australian history. Explore the connected histories of the First Muslims to Australia and the relationships they had with the many First Nations communities on their journeys around the country.

This package costs $8 per primary student, or $10 per secondary student. An optional Arts workshop (add 45 minutes) is available at an additional cost of $8+GST per student.

Discover the rich contributions of the Ottoman Empire to the world! Our guides will take students on a historical journey tracing Ottoman influence on Smallpox inoculation, coffee and will learn about the amazing Map of Piri Res. This package is relevant to studies of the Ottoman Empire in Year 8 History or VCE History.

This specialised tour will trace the significant contributions of Muslims to Medieval Europe, offering an alternate narrative of the ‘Dark Ages’. This package is relevant to studies of Islam-West relations during the Medieval period, in Year 8 History or in the senior secondary years. It is intended to aid content learning as well as foster Intercultural Capability / Understanding.

Explore the galleries with particular connection to religious studies curriculum, and participate in a presentation/discussion about Islam and society.

Our Islamic Arts package is dynamic, reflecting upon the ancient techniques of Persian ceramics, to ancient calligraphy, contemporary installations, paintings and multimedia works housed in our Islamic Art gallery and visiting exhibition space. It is relevant to Visual Arts, Media Arts, Visual Communication Design, VCE Art and Intercultural Capability/Understanding.

This package explores the sociocultural, historical and literary elements of Islam and how religious texts, like the Quran, are the foundation for social organisation, rituals, values and beliefs, and for the behaviours of Muslims in Australia and around the world.

This package can be tailored to primary or secondary student leadership groups.

This package costs $1500 for a full day workshop for 45 students. We can accommodate additional students for $5 per student with a total cap of 70 students.
