Worried?
Stressed?
Anxious?
Uncertain?
These are all natural feelings many of us are experiencing right now given the current global pandemic.
During this lockdown many of us may overlook our health and fitness.
NOW is the time to really keep fit and healthy and create the best YOU during this period.
Below are my top 5 tips towards improved health and fitness during lockdown.
1. Routine!
Have a set routine you follow everyday. This can be as simple as getting up at a consistent time everyday, opening the curtains, shower and changing out of your PJ’s. This basic routine can assist you from falling into a ‘slump’ and have you feeling great to kickstart the day.
2. Keep Active!
Being active is more important than ever, not only for our mental health but also our immunity during the Covid-19 outbreak. It might sound obvious but working out at home is the perfect way to stay active. Keeping active not only improves our physical well-being but our mental well-being too.
3. Nutrition!
No doubt you’re reaching for the fridge door numerous times during the day. To combat comfort eating or eating out of boredom, write yourself a daily meal plan. Write down the meals you would like to eat including any snacks and stick to your meal plan. This does not have to be extravagant or fancy. Having a plan such as this can set you up for success. As the saying goes “if you fail to plan you plan to fail”.
4. Learn something new!
By learning something new I don’t mean acquiring a new qualification. It can be as simple as relearning an old skill e.g. cooking, painting, or finishing off where you left off on a DIY home project. Research shows keeping busy with simple learning activities is associated with higher levels of emotional psychological well-being.
5. Self Care!
How many times have you promised yourself a hot bath? Or even some time to simply ‘chill out’?
Now is the time to really focus on YOU and do all the things you once wished you had the time to do. Go on, give yourself permission to step aside and do YOU. You simply have the time to.
