Beat the boredom these school holidays at the Islamic Museum of Australia

A LEGO workshop, story time with local authors, terracotta pot decorating and slime-making are just a handful of the fun activities kids can participate in at the Islamic Museum of Australia (IMA) these school holidays, 22 September – 6 October.

The Museum will be a hive of activity during the school holidays, providing welcomed relief for parents looking for low-cost family fun.

IMA General Manager Ali Fahour said the Museum has a strong focus on offering activities that appeal to a wide audience.

“The Museum welcomes everyone through our doors whether Muslim or non-Muslim. Our program has been developed with one thing in mind – FUN! We want kids of all ages and varying interests to experience our school holiday activities,” Mr Fahour said.

The jam-packed program of activities includes:

  • Arabic calligraphy workshops
  • Make your own LEGO invention
  • Childhood Champions children’s book series reading and craft activity and author meet & greet
  • Terracotta Pot Decorating
  • Origami workshop
  • Felting workshop
  • Slime and bubble making
  • Make your own kaleidoscope
  • My Muslim Mate book reading and author meet & greet

The Islamic Museum of Australia is located in Thornbury, in Melbourne’s north. It is the only Islamic museum in the country and provides educational and cross-cultural experiences for all ages. The Museum is open 10am – 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
