Swirls of Tradition: Ebru Marbling

Event Status : Open

Discover the ancient art of Ebru, or paper marbling, where paint floats gracefully on water before being transferred to paper.

Suitable for ages : 7+

Discover the ancient art of Ebru, or paper marbling, where paint floats gracefully on water before being transferred to paper. In this workshop, participants will learn traditional techniques to create swirling, colourful patterns that resemble stone, clouds, and flowing water. A practice rooted in Islamic art and history, Ebru celebrates patience, creativity, and the beauty of chance. Each participant will craft their own unique marbled artworks to take home, no two designs are ever the same!

In its ongoing commitment to combatting Islamophobia, the Islamic Museum of Australia champions an understanding and appreciation for Islamic art and culture. The school holiday workshops are supported by the Victorian Government.
