Event Status : Sold Out

Under the guidance of Melbourne-based Palestinian artist, Loor Awad, you'll explore the art of tatreez in an intimate, beginner-friendly workshop.

Join us for an enchanting women's-only evening celebrating Palestinian Art, Heritage, and Culture at our exclusive fundraising event. Immerse yourself in a rich tapestry of tradition as Loor Awad, a distinguished Palestinian artist residing in Melbourne, leads you through an elegant and beginner-friendly tatreez workshop. This unique opportunity allows you to connect with fellow enthusiasts and create a beautiful, intricate design.

As you engage in the art of tatreez, enjoy the soulful performances of local Palestinian poet Sanabel Ramahi and the melodious voice of singer Heba Tayeh, offering a sublime backdrop to your creative endeavours. It promises to be an evening of refined entertainment and cultural enrichment, perfect for a night out with friends.

All materials will be provided, along with light refreshments and traditional Palestinian tea to enhance your experience.

Proceeds from this event will be generously donated to Human Appeal, supporting their ongoing humanitarian aid efforts in Gaza.

Indulge in an unforgettable night of art, culture, and connection. We look forward to welcoming you.

While we adore your little ones, this event is a special 18+ women's only gathering to ensure a relaxed and focused atmosphere for all.

Loor Awad

Loor is an aspiring Palestinian curator, writer and cross-stitcher based in Naarm. Her journey has been shaped by and focuses on collective experiences and the ways by which these collectives adapt and persevere to survive. Her practice is strongly influenced by storytelling and the intersection between art and politics, exploring notions of post-memories and dispossession in relation to contemporaneity, time and space.

Sanabel Ramahi

Sanabel is a Palestinian educator, community organiser and poet, hailing from Naarm.

When not guiding young minds, Sanabel spends her free time crafting verses that reflect her faith and lived experiences. Seeking to create bonds, build bridges and nurture community, Sanabel started performing her poetry and founded Muslims of Naarm (@muslims.of.naarm). Sanabel has performed at various poetry nights across Naarm, Palestine fundraisers, rallies and events targeted at raising. You can find more of Sanabel's work on @voiceofalmuzayri3a.
