A calligraphic exhibition of urban typography probing the intersection of tags with traditional Asian and Islamic calligraphy. Featuring commissioned works by some of Melbourne’s most renowned writers, along with exemplary Chinese & Japanese calligraphy loaned from East & West Art gallery, Kew.
The Islamic Museum of Australia affords a cultural immersion in the art, history and discovery of Islam and Muslims in Australia. By showcasing a wealth of contemporary artistic expression and an extensive cultural heritage, IMA facilitates space for critical reflection and personal interpretation – in the act of sharing, common myths and prejudices are dispelled and mutual understanding is established.
