Australian Muslim Artists 2025

15 August 2025 - 08 November 2025

The Australian Muslim Artists exhibition is an annual celebration of creativity, diversity, and the depth of artistic expression within Australia’s Muslim communities.

Now in its latest installation, the exhibition brings together the work of twenty contemporary Australian Muslim artists, exploring themes of faith, identity, heritage, and the urgent realities of our time. Spanning painting, photography, textiles, dioramas, and installations, these works are deeply personal yet resonate with shared histories and collective memory.

AMA ART PRIZE 2025

We are delighted to announce that the 2025 Australian Muslim Artists Art Prize, supported by La Trobe University, has been awarded to Sepideh Farzam for her powerful mixed media installation Threads of Red Silence, a moving reflection on trauma, resilience, and hope for peace in the Middle East.

Stories That Resonate

From intimate reflections on home and belonging to powerful responses to war, displacement, and social justice, each piece is an act of witness.

Some works revive traditional craft and architectural forms, transforming them into contemporary expressions of cultural continuity. Others confront systems of oppression, challenge media narratives, and bear testimony to resilience in the face of profound hardship.

A Tapestry of Backgrounds

The artists represent a rich mix of cultural heritage — including Lebanese, Sri Lankan, Iraqi, Indonesian, Afghan, Iranian, Egyptian, Eritrean, Libyan, Moroccan, and Malay backgrounds.

What unites them is a shared commitment to telling stories that are too often overlooked, misrepresented, or silenced.

An Invitation to Connect

Together, these works form a dynamic and multifaceted dialogue. They invite reflection, foster empathy, and build connections across cultures and experiences — offering audiences new ways to see, feel, and understand the world around them.

The AMA Art Prize is sponsored by Latrobe University
