Geometric Block Printing

Event Status : Open

Use traditional block printing techniques to create geometric designs on a muslin tote bag.

Open for ages : 8+

Geometric patterns are a defining feature of Islamic art, celebrated for their balance, repetition, and beauty. Inspired by mathematics and nature, these intricate designs have been used for centuries across Islamic art and architecture.

In this fun workshop, participants will explore these timeless patterns using traditional block printing techniques to create geometric designs on a muslin tote bag. Experiment with colour, layer patterns, and discover how geometry has inspired Muslim artists throughout history while creating a unique piece to take home.

In its ongoing commitment to combatting Islamophobia, the Islamic Museum of Australia champions an understanding and appreciation for Islamic art and culture. The Autumn School Holiday workshops are supported by the Victorian Government.
