Mini Moon Explorers

Event Status : Open

In this workshop, children will create their own “moon” through a simple chemical reaction, creating realistic textures as it dries.

Suitable for ages : 6+

In this fun, hands-on workshop, children will create their own textured “moon” using baking soda, PVA glue, and vinegar. They’ll watch their moon fizz and bubble through a simple chemical reaction, creating realistic crater-like textures as it dries.

This creative science activity introduces the idea of moon sighting and helps children connect science with the upcoming month of Ramadan. Each child will take home their very own handmade moon.

In its ongoing commitment to combatting Islamophobia, the Islamic Museum of Australia champions an understanding and appreciation for Islamic art and culture. The school holiday workshops are supported by the Victorian Government.
