Step into the world of Islamic art and architecture with your hands!
Open for ages : 7+
Step into the world of Islamic art and architecture with your hands! In this workshop, participants will create their very own mini mihrab from clay, a tiny, beautiful prayer niche inspired by the shapes and patterns of traditional designs.
You can sculpt freehand or use templates to guide your design, experimenting with arches, patterns, and decorative details. This is a hands-on, creative adventure that lets imagination take the lead, while also exploring the artistry and beauty of Islamic heritage.
By the end of the session, each mini mihrab will be a unique keepsake, a little piece of art that celebrates creativity, culture, and the joy of making something with your own hands.
In its ongoing commitment to combatting Islamophobia, the Islamic Museum of Australia champions an understanding and appreciation for Islamic art and culture. The school holiday workshops are supported by the Victorian Government.
