Discover how geometry transforms into art in this vibrant, hands-on workshop inspired by the rich traditions of Islamic design. Participants will learn about the role of symmetry, repetition, and balance in Islamic art — principles that reflect harmony and unity in creation.
Using fine coloured sand, you’ll bring timeless geometric patterns to life, layer by layer, while exploring the meditative rhythm of this creative process. Guided by our facilitators, each design will become a unique expression of pattern and colour, echoing the intricate artistry found across Islamic architecture and decoration.
Perfect for creatives of all ages, this workshop offers a mindful and inspiring way to connect with culture, design, and the beauty of geometry.
In its ongoing commitment to combatting Islamophobia, the Islamic Museum of Australia champions an understanding and appreciation for Islamic art and culture. The school holiday workshops are supported by the Victorian Government.
