Galactic Glaze: Cupcake and Cookie Decorating

Event Status : Open

Immerse yourself in our creative and educational workshop to celebrate the rich history of astronomy in Islamic culture with galactic-inspired cupcakes and cookies.

Facilitator : Abier

Age suitability : 7 years +

Join us for a unique blend of culture, science and creativity at our Galactic Glaze: Cupcake and Cookie Decorating Workshop! This event draws inspiration from the rich history of astronomy in Islamic culture, where the stars and the moon have played a pivotal role in both religious practices and scientific discoveries. Early Islamic scholars, such as Al-Battani and Ibn al-Haytham, made significant astronomical advancements, shaping our understanding of the cosmos.

In this immersive workshop, you'll explore the art of galactic-themed baking, transforming cupcakes and cookies into celestial masterpieces. Learn to craft mesmerising galaxy designs, sparkling star accents and nebula-inspired patterns using a variety of cosmic colours and shimmering decorations. Whether you're an experienced baker or a complete beginner, all materials are provided — just bring your creativity and prepare for a stellar experience that celebrates the fusion of science, culture and art!

In its ongoing commitment to combatting Islamophobia, the Islamic Museum of Australia champions an understanding and appreciation for Islamic art and culture. The Galactic Glaze: Cupcake and Cookie Decorating workshop is supported by the Victorian Government.

*Cancellations made 48 hours or less prior to the event will not be refunded.
