The Islamic Museum of Australia will collaborate with other Museums in Australia and around the world to attract quality visiting exhibitions. The Islamic Arts Museum of Malaysia recently hosted an exhibition of National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry’s ‘A Common Faith’ sharing photographs of Muslim Lands and the ‘1001 inventions’ exhibition that is currently touring the U.S.A. are both examples of the type of exhibition the Islamic Museum aims to attract. The ‘Australia’s Muslim Cameleers’ exhibition which originated at the Museum of South Australia was showcased recently at the Immigration Museum in Victoria and is a fine example of local collaboration between museums. The Islamic Museum of Australia is committed to building strong partnerships with other community museums in Australia and professional organisations such as Museums Australia and Museum Victoria. Collaboration with Islamic Art Museums overseas, such as those listed below, will facilitate artistic exchange and cooperation in organising international touring exhibits.
